2023

August 31, 2023 (Neshanic Valley R/L)

A beautiful weather day - upper 70s and breezy. Jim R survives a triple on the last hole to win by 1 over Dan and Rick. Greg comes back to win over Ed 2 and 1.

August 26, 2023 (Neshanic Valley M/L)

One DGA group had to play different nines and George won by 2 over Fitz. Fitz was a putting machine on the front but came back to earth on the back. Lots of laughs as usual - we played a "Rinaldi" round, no one in front of us and no one behind us.

August 26, 2023 (Neshanic Valley R/L)

We had 10 players go out on Ridge / Lake (results below) and 3 went out early on Meadow / Lake. The course was in good shape. Greens were soft due to the overnight rain and much of the tall grass off the fairways was cut down.  Bob Nowark had a spectacular round winning by 6 strokes with a net 30 on the front 9 and is the only player below par.

August 24, 2023 (Neshanic Valley R/L)

A cloudy and cool day for August - George Canfield catches fire on the back to win by 3 shots over Mike and George "one putt Connors".  Dave Perry makes a guest appearance and almost didn't make the back nine due to gout in his elbow - but he hit a good drive on 10 and decided to play on and played well to tie for 2nd on the back. Greens were faster than expected and many first putts rolled 3 or 4 fee by.

August 19. 2023 (Green Knoll)

It was a rare August day that started out chilly and ended in the mid 70s with no humidity.

The rough was thick and showed on most scores but Greg places first as the only one at par edging Fitz and Bruce by 2.  Fitz ends up taking home the most money grabbing 2nd place in the F9 nassau and winning 4 pots, including a ho hum par 3 net 8.

In a partners match quarter final, the 5 seed team of Billy and Andrew edged the 4 seed team of Greg and Ed +1, winning both the 17th and 18th holes.

August 12. 2023 (Quail Brook - World Series Qualifier #5)

Reese Evans shoot a net 67 and has punched his ticket to World Series.  Reese wins the front with a Net 30, shared Net Birdies with 9 and also had 3 Greenies.  This will the 3rd time Reese will be in World Series.  Min Minutello shot a solid 68 to finish one stroke behind Reese.  Bob Nowark wins the back with a Net 32, finishing third with a Net 69.  He also had 3 Net Eagles.

Aggregate competition was concluded today and our current WS Champ, Bob Babetski was the winner.  He finished with a score of 283 which was seven better than Min Minutello and Rick Newport who finished at 290.  Bob will now be able to defend his championship.

In Match play Ed Korleski and Greg Cavallo finished with a tie.  In Partners Dennis Grote and John Rutigliano defeated Rich Fistzgerald and Frank Thiry +9.

August 5, 2023 (Spooky Brook)

It was sunny and hot at Spooky Brook but the heat did not deter David Ellis.  David had a big $ day winning the overall, front and back 9.  He also took the net birdie and sandy pots and a share of the birdie pot, with 4 other guys.  Min continues to amaze...shooting his age and taking 2nd place in both the F9 and B9 nassaus.
In match play Rick Newport bested George Canfield 3&2 to move into the semi-finals.
