February 15, 2024 (Ballamor)

Rick pulls the upset and wins instead of Reese! He also finished 3rd in the Senior Net and won a skin - nice day. JR also cashed. Highlights of the day - MJ has a new swing and can finally compress the ball after 2 lessons. Mike also joins JP in topping a fairway shot with a metal - Mike on his second swing of the day grazes the top of the ball in it basically stays in place - JP tops a fairway metal and has to jump out of the way to avoid being hit by the ball. Course was in excellent shape - was probably the coldest day we have had in Caliendo plus we rode since this course is very spread out.

February 10, 2024 (Quail Brook)

I don't think we broke the record for warmest day in February of 61 degrees but we got pretty close. The course was in good shape and the greens actually seemed a little fast for some reason. George Canfield went out in the first group and lit up the back 9 with 4 birdies / 4 net eagles and 8 net birds. It seems that the par 3s were playing a little more difficult than usual with 14 winning the gross and net pot and only 1 greenie. The Thiry brothers showed up for their first round of 2024 and played a match against the Connors brothers. The Thiry's came out strong and took the front by 1 but lost the back and the overall.  Larry ran into some trouble on the par 5 14th hole. He went into the right greenside bunker on about his 10th shot. At this point, George and Charlie started walking to the 15th tee to speed things up and avoid the angry mob gathering on the fairway behind them. They  made it to the 15th tee, hit their shots, walked to the green and waited anxiously for Larry and Frank to appear. It seemed like another 15 minutes had already passed and they contemplated going back to make sure everything was okay. It was okay, of course, Larry took a 20 on the hole and we moved on. We discussed this hole quite a bit at the Stagehouse. We had another interesting situation on the 10th hole. George and Charlie were on the back of the green in front of the bunker on the right of the green next to their golf balls. Frank hit his approach shot from in front of the green up by the cart path. It was rolling hard right at the Connors brothers who both noticed that the rake was on the ground between them and that Frank's ball was going to hit that rake and keep it from going in the bunker. A very quick discussion / argument ensued as to what,if any, action should be taken.  They froze and did nothing because of course they are not very knowledgeable of the rules. I believe the rule was clarified at the bar by someone who does know the rules (Jim P) that we could have moved the rake (if we wanted to be dicks). There was a lively discussion at the bar about who are the fastest and slowest DGA players and why some players need to take so many practice swings. We'll talk more about this in the future. There is a rumor continuing to circulate that the DGA will be playing the ball down in the bunkers at some point so I expect to see the gross scores going up a bit since the bunkers are in shit condition.

February 3, 2024 (Spooky Brook)

Reese wins again. Scoring on 17 and 18 secured the win. Combined scores by player for 17 and 18: Charlie 13, George 13, Rick 13, Jim 11 and Reese 8.

February 1, 2024 (Shoregate)

Reese continures to win although Rick did tie him! The course was set up from the Gold tees thankfully because from the white tees a lot more trouble came into play.
