2024

January 27, 2024 (Quail Brook)

We had a decent day for January golf. It was in the 40s and overcast. The course was really wet with all the rain during the week. Reese continues winning with a gross 78, net 70. He took care business with a par on 16, 17 and 18. Charlie had a decent round but took an 8 on the par 5 14th hole. Speaking of Charlie he finally went for a fitting at Neshanic because there is a rumor he may actually be getting new clubs. The fitting turned more into a lesson though once David saw the swing so the jury is out as to when we will actually see new clubs. Jim P had a tough day putting today and may have lost his "best lag putter in NJ" title but this may just be a one off due to having a bit too much wine with friends on Friday night. George Connors missed a hole-in-one on the 11th hole by inches. I think it was playing about 145ish with the pin middle left. He hit left of the pin and it bounced right toward the hole and it looked like it was going in. He did make the 6 inch putt. Of course he took a triple on the next hole becaues that is the way golf works. Disappointing turn out at the Stagehouse afterwards from the second foursome  so I don't have much more to say about the round.

January 18, 2024 (Twisted Dunes)

Reese and MJ tie with surprising net 68s on a clear winter day with virtually no wind. The course was frozen for the first 9 holes and then then thawed some on the second nine. Lots of run early and much less late. Reese was 3rd in Amateur Net and MJ was 3rd in Senior Net. JR won a skin for his birdie.

January 13, 2024 (Quail Brook)

The course was soaked with lots of standing water. Warmish to start then got colder and we had rain on the back nine for several holes - all in all a "perfect" winter golf day! Reese continues his hot streak and wins the most money. Charlie likes his double digit handicap and ties for the win. MJ starts with a bang - holing a 70 foot putt for birdie on #1 but that was pretty much it. JR has some struggles with his short game but had a great 17th hole just missing an eagle by a foot. Of course Rick rolled a birdie in from 20 feet on top of him!

January 4, 2024 (Deal Country Club)

Mike nips Rick on the final hole to win by one shot. It was a sunny, windy day at Deal. Winds on the last 9 holes were 20 to 25 MPH. On one hole Rick said "it was a 5 club wind". Course was in fantastic shape and the greens were fast.

Per Rick - Ed and George "braved" the cold to play - low 40s - Rick and Jim thought it was a perfect winter golf day (guess who won the money). No other commentary was provided - sure there were laughs.
