2022

September 27, 2022 (Harbor Pines)

A tough day on a tough wet course (no roll) Jim R wins for the second time on the trip thanks to a hot back 9 over MJ by 1 shot. The beer line was net 88 - ouch. This is a tight course - every fairway is tree lined - lots of well-placed bunkers and fast greens. Weather was perfect for the second day of our trip, 75 and sunny. Jim R, Jim P and MJ had played this course in the Caliendo and during Covid but this played a lot tougher today.

September 26, 2022 (Blue Heron Pines)

Jim R wins easily on a challenging course none of us had played before. Six of us had a great dinner at Harrah's Italian restaurant and some video poker after - Jim P gave us the tricks of the trade - like sitting at the poker bar where you get free drinks while you play. Perfect weather 75 and Sunny on this first of 2 days in AC. The course conditions were OK - not as good as expected with bares spots in the fairways and on the tees.

September 24, 2022 (Spooky Brook)

Bob Keller makes a guest appearance and runs away with a 4 shot win and a nice payday. Scores were high for SB as the greens were fast and there was wind - it was also the coldest start since the spring with temps in the 40s to start. Ron JR and Min beat Billy and Andrew +2 in the partners semi. Jim P outlasts MJ in a see saw match - pulling away on the back nine and finishing in style with a birdie on 16 for a 3 and 2 win the the match play semi.

September 20, 2022 (Spooky Brook)

Jim Rinaldi wins by 1 over Min on a sunny and windy day at Spooky Brook. Greens were fast and pin positions were difficult. MJ and JP tied their semi-final match with both players making clutch shots down the stretch after missing many short putts earlier. MJ birdied 16 and won 17 to pull ahead by 1 but JP made birdie on 18 to tie the match. Replay will be Saturday.

September 10, 2022 (World Series Championship - Eagle Ridge GC)

It was an early start for World Series Day.  Rich Fitzgerald shot a Net 70 which was a 22 stroke improvement from two days earlier and won by 2 strokes with a Net 70.  He finished second on the front with a Net 37, first on the back with a Net 33.   He also wond Net Birdies (12), Net Eagles (3) and of course Net Par 3 (8).  Charlie Connors finished 2nd with a Net 72, finished 1st on the front with a Net 35.  He was in the Birdie pot with 1 and won the Gross Par 3 with 12.  He also shot low with a gross 82.

Congratulations to our 2022 World Series Champion Bob Babetski who finished with a net 74, Jim Rinaldi finished second with net 76 and Rick Newport finished third with a net 81.

Beer Line was net 85 and only Rich and Jim Rinaldi finished par or better.  Scores ranged from Net 70 to Net 101.

September 8, 2022 (WS Warm Up - Eagle Ridge GC -Pines/Ridge)

A small turnout for the World Series warm up and judging from the scores more finalisist should have come.  The greens are difficult and Ridge has a few holes where there is a good carry.  A non WS finalist was our winner.  Greg Cavallo a Net 75 and came in first on both 9's with a Net 39/Net 36.  George Canfield finished 3rd but tied on the front nine with a Net 39 and was in four Pots, Birdies, Net Birdies, Net Eagles and Sandies.

For our two WS finalists that did play, Dennis Grote finished 2nd with a Net 78 and Ron Ceglia Jr finished 6th with a Net 90.

Beer line was Net 85 and Larry Thiry has 21 equities.

September 3, 2022 (Warrenbrook)

Mike wins by 2 over the ageless one Min despite an "unspectacular" round according to his match partner George. Lots of low scores as the course played hard and fast. Fitz wins the net birdie and net eagle pots despite shooting a net 78! Charlie makes 3 birdies on his way to beating Dennis in match play 5 and 4. Mike told George he expected 4 birdies and he got 3 and just missed a 4th. He could have finished higher expect for a 10 on #5. We hung out at the bar for quite a long time with Mike and Larry buying rounds.

September 1, 2022 (Berkshire Valley)

Bruce wins by many on a visually intimidating course with very fast and undulating greens. Many strange things starting with Jim hitting Bruce's ball from the middle of the 1st fairway. The first 5 holes are very hard with the second a 210 yard par 3 that is heavily guarded by bunkers. It is the number one handicap hole - not often you see that.
