April 30, 2016 (Warrenbrook)

It was a SUPER Day at Warren Brook, in that 7 of the Top 10 Finishers were getting Super Holes!  Leading the pack were Thiry,F, Minutello and Jeffries who all tied for 1st with Net 67's.  The Matches were not so close with Nowark defeating Perry 7 & 6 and Fitzgerald defeating Price 8 & 7.

April 23rd, 2016 (Spooky Brook)

Dave Perry (not a typo!) romps with a Net 64 for a 5 stroke victory over Rinaldi and Thiry,F.   As a result, he and Schuler defeat defending Champions Price/Rutigliano in Partners Match +4.  If you listen closely, you'll hear Musella yelling WTF!!! from South Carolina.  In the other Partners Match Thiry's Inc. defeated Cavallo/Korleski +6.

April 16, 2016 (Green Knoll)

The Wind and slow aerated Greens didn't seem to bother Larry Thiry (and his 25 strokes) as he shoots Net 66 for a 3 stroke victory over Minutello.  Dave Perry is still longing for Tampa.  Dave needed a yardage reading for his 2nd shot on the Par 3 third hole.  He also wanted the yardage for his 3rd shot, but it would've slowed play down to walk over to #2 Ladies Tee Box.  Good Times!

April 14th, 2016 (Fox Hollow)

Nice sunny day, low 60's. Greens were aerated, sanded and inconsistent leading to some interesting putts. Bunkers were newly filled with sand, at least most of them were, creating some tough lies. Jim Petronchak starts off slow but finishes better for a 1 stroke lead over newby Matt Smoot and 3 over Mike Jeffries ( he needs to have his name mentioned) even if he doesn't do the results. Plenty of equities including 4 on one hole by Reese Evans.

April 10, 2016 (Little River, North Carolina)

After a 1 hour frost delay (we didn't see any frost on the ground), we played our last round in the Pinehurst area.  The pro shop recommended that we play a "hybrid" set of tees (12 white, 6 gold) because the course is too long from the whites…and they were right!  Good layout...Ron Emma wins by 3 with a Net 75.  The two foursomes played "Man-In-The-Box" in addition to DGA.  The Emma/Evans/Evans/Rutigliano team shot -3...the other team shot +3.  Reese Evans had a Johnny (45-34)

April 10, 2016 (Prestwick, South Carolina)

All facets of Larry's game showed up enough for him to easily win DGA by 6 shots.  LT offset 3 gross quadruple bogeys with two net eagles and steady play on all the other challenging holes.  Prestwick is a challenging course and its course designers Pete and P.B. Dye were easily recognizable with the abundance of their signature railroad ties.  This round wrapped up our 5 day Myrtle Beach trip and an enjoyable time was had by all.  We look forward to returning to Myrtle Beach next early Spring and perhaps play several of these courses again.

April 9th, 2016 (Quailbrook OLD)

6 DGA and 1 Qualifier played.  There was a frost delay of 1 hour…and the rain held off until the 17th hole.  Ron Ceglia Sr won by 4 shots over the field.

April 9, 2016 (Mid South, North Carolina)

A beautiful day….but windy with gusts of 30 mph.  Reese Evans was the only player to shoot under Net 80.  Fast greens and wind reeked havoc on the players.

April 9, 2016 (Wild Wing Avocet)

It's a 3-way DGA tie for 1st as Michael, George and Frankie DGA all shoot net 77's.  Not too shabby with some periodic vicious wid gusts complicating our drives, our irons AND our putts.  In our 3 day tournament, Russell Pierson Sr wins by one stroke with a total of 228 over Mike's 229.  LT was 3rd at 246, FT-DGA was 4th at 249, Rusty Jr was 5th at 254 and Wally had a net total of 314.

April 8, 2016 (Southern Pines, North Carolina)

A beautiful day…sunny, Carolina Blue skies and some breeze.  We played a traditional Donald Ross course where everything was in front of you.  Jim Rinaldi shot net 70 for a 4 shot win.  Johnny Rut has a Johnny (36-50)

April 8, 2016 (Blackmoor, South Carolina)

Michael Rolph makes a dramatic recovery from an ailing back problem the day before and wins by 9 shots.  Wally the Chief shoots 30 shots less than the day before but can't escape the cellar.  It was at least much more enjoyable playing Blackmoor (Gary Player's course in MBSC area) this time compared to the last time the DGA was here when we played in a heavy deluge many years ago.

April 7, 2016 (Tobacco Road, North Carolina)

A nice day in the Pinehurst area in North Carolina.  The sun came out, temps in the upper 60s and the "breeze" had an effect.  Tobacco Road is a very tricky course with intimidating tee shots, severe angled holes, blind shots and undulating greens.  Several local rules helped speed play so that we played in 5 hours and 15 minutes!!!!...improve your lie in waste areas (everything not fairway or green was waste area), lost balls in the scrub treated like a lateral hazard (drop in fairway with 1 shot penalty).  Reese Evans didn't let anything faze him on the way to a 6 shot win.

April 7, 2016 (Heritage, South Carolina)

George Nolan takes control being the home town boy and is victorious by 11 shots over his nearest competitor.  Wall (the Chief) had a tough day dealing with the water, hazards and tough conditions.  Wally breaks his own scoring record by 2 shots with his 166 Gross.  All other DGA'ers shoot over 100 with nets in the 80's as the course played tough for everyone.  Larry had his 2nd Johnny (36-48) and Wally had a Super Johnny (53-72).

April 6, 2016 (Myrtle Beach National Kings, South Carolina)

Michael Rolph, perhaps inspired by his trip to the Masters Augusta National Golf Course the day before, fires a net 69 and a 10 point win over hometown boy, George Nolan.  All other golfers, including 2 guests, shoot in the 80's and 90's on a decent weather day at this well designmed Arnold Palmer course.  Larry Thiry had a Johnny (50-37).

April 2nd, 2016 (Quailbrook OLD)

Opening Day in the DGA and we only had 12 finishers.  It appears that the very light dizzle scared away a few.  The rest of us forged ahead.  There was a light rain which ended by the time the first group made the turn.  Dan Price finished first and was the only player in the field to finish below net par.  He also won the front nine and gross par 3's.  Dan also gets the first World Series points with 3. Jim Petronchak and Bruce Rapp tied for second with net 73.  Bob Nowark took net birdies and net eagles and there were 6 players tied with 1 for sandies.

In an unprecedented opening day event Mansour Rismanchi challenged Gary Yusko to Match play.  Mansour won 4 & 3.
