October 29, 2022 (Neshanic Valley - Ridge/Lake)
We had an hour frost delay but then it was absolutely beautiful. Great day for golf. Rich dominated the par 3s : Two 1s on the scorecard, a 2 and a 3 for a net 7 (gross 12). Rick shot 37 on the front and 37 on the back with 2 birdies and a sandy to win the day. We played Ridge / Meadow which was a nice change since we normally play Lake.

Jim P nips George by 1 shot despite a 7 on the 18th hole and a 9 on the 6th. Jim chipped really well getting it up and down a bunch of times. Windy with some holes playing into a 2 or 3 club wind. Not a lot of putts sunk today despite the greens being in great shape. Mike had the hole of the day. On 14 he drove it left and it stopped under the bushes at the edge - Mike turns his 8 over and hits it out left- handed. Then proceeds to hit the next shot into the high grass along the left. Rick finds it and he gauges it out onto the fairway. Hits his 11 wood over the trees from 175 yards onto the green and sinks a 30-foot putt for a 6. Probably the best bogey he ever had. George thought as he addressed the ball left-handed that this could easily be a whiff or two!

Mike plays the par 3's under par gross to nip Billy by one shot and Charlie "I killed my handicap" by two shots. Lots of highlights - Babo eagles the first hole - Ed and Babo were both putting for eagle. Ed laments that he made birdie and he and his partner lost 2 points on the hole. Billy had 5 nets in the first 5 holes but then faded until 11 - he birdies 11, 13 and 15 to nip Charlie in the birdie pot - Charlie had 3 and missed a birdie on 18 by inches. Minny just missed shooting his age for the 1000th time ho hum - probably saving himself for the Caliendo Championship on Tuesday. Frank Thiry makes a guest appearance after 11 weeks "due to a bad back" of course 3 of those weeks were in Europe - just sayin. It was a perfect fall day with temps rising to 70 after a chilly start.
October 20, 2022 (Spooky Brook)
Billy rides a hot back 9 to a one-shot win over George. George eagles the 6th hole with 9 iron from 125 yards. Greens were still bumpy from the recent aeration and it was quite windy - obviously didn't bother Billy and George.
October 15, 2022 (Quail Brook)
The weather was perfect. Warm enough for Ed to wear shorts. Charlie didn't see the weather forecast and was dressed for winter golf including the fleece lined pants which obviously affected his play. Greg played steady golf throughout to win the overall while Dan was hot on the front and Jim R was hot on the back. Jim P defeated Dan in a great match. Dan was up one after nine and was getting up and down from everywhere including sandys on 6 and 8 and an impressive pitch over the bunker on 9 on his third shot. On the 12th hole Jim put his drive in the bunker on the left side of fairway, hit a spectacular shot to the middle of the green and then sunk a 20ft downhill right to left breaking putt for birdie which tied the match up again and gave him the momentum and he won 3 of the next 4 holes. On 17 Andrew put his drive in the left rough, second shot in left rough, third shot way right in the rough, fourth shot in the rough short right of green and 5th shot lob/pitch in the bottom of the cup for par while the rest of playing from the fairway all took bogeys.

Jim Rinaldi plays the steadiest to win by 2 over George. Greg had a hot front 9 but went cold on the back and had a Johnny. Greens were aerated recently and very difficult to putt on - each of us took turns missing short putts. Many putts veered offline off the putter or near the hole. Once it warmed up it was a very pleasant day.
It was a pleasant October day for golf. Sometimes a little chilly, sometimes warm, sometimes sunny, sometimes windy and sometimes not. Bob Babetski wins everything, except sandys. Beer line was 80; I'm no expert but that seems high. We played lift, clean and place but I'm not sure if anyone was actually in the fairway except Bob. Larry and Rich had nice turnarounds on their back nines. Happy 76th birthday to Larry and Happy 85th to Dan Price (last Saturday).
Only 3 players showed up to play Warrenbrook today. It was a bit chilly and windy and we had some rain. The course was in good condition. We all started off slow but Ed warmed up and took the front nine highlighted with a beautiful birdie on the par 3 6th hole. Dan and Ed were fighting it out on the back nine but Ed had some difficulties on the 17th and Dan cruised to a 3 stroke win on the back 9.
