September 14, 2024 (Beaver Brook CC - World Series Championship)
It was Championship Saturday at Beaver Brook CC and it was no easy task. Everyone was over par and the beer line was Net 82. With all that being said our champions finished 1 and 2 in the standings. In WS, Rick Newport was 3 back of Jim Rinaldi and Bob Babetski at the turn but came alive on the back nine with a winning Net 35 and finished with a winning score of Net 73 both in World Series and DGA, 3 strokes ahead of Dan Price and Bob Babetski.
In Match Play Championship Dan Price had a one shot lead at the turn but Reese Evans could never catch him on the back. Dan shot a Net 37 on the back (2nd Pl) and Dan won 3 & 1. It was his first time winning Match Play in his fourth try.
Other notables, Jim Rinaldi had 3 Birdies, Frank Thiry had 8 Net Birdies and Reese Evans had 4 Greenies one which came on the Par 4, 9th hole. Mike Jeffries also had a Greenie on that hole.
The general concensus from the group was no more Beaver Brook. Min summed it the only way he knows how when asked if he'd come again, "No f**** way". World Series Office is taking suggestions. As a matter of fact, there may be a poll, so check your email.
September 12, 2024 (Beaver Brook CC - Warm Up - World Series
Not an easy day at Beaver Brook. Lucky it was only the warmup/practice round. Greens are very big and quick and very few flat lies in the fairways. We had a three way log jam at the top. Dan Price, Jim Rinaldi and Jim Petronchak all tied with a Net 78. Rinaldi wins the front with a Net 37 and Price wins the back with a 39. Mike Jeffries won Net Birdies with 5 and George Canfield had three greenies.
In Match play Dan Price beats Match Play Commissioner, Greg Cavallo 3&2. The match went back and forth but Dan took control on the back nine. Dan will now meet Reese Evans in the final.
September 7, 2024 (Neshanic Valley R/L)
An intimate group of 8 at Neshanic. Rick Newport shoots a Net 76 and wins by one. Started off with a lost ball 8 on the first hole but settled down from there. Tied the front with Babo, tied Birdies with Jrut, tied GP3 with Jim Rinaldi and tied NP3 with Minny and Jim Rinaldi. Was a good day. JRut wins the back, wins Net Birdies and Net Eagles. Reese comes in second on the back with Minny at net 38 and wins Sandies with 1.
In Match Play news, Reese Evans wins 2 & 1 over Andrew Keller. The third time they have met in match play. Congratulations Reese as you are on your way to the finals.
